Fara F/Road review: a handsome mileage eater that needs better wheels

Fara is a relative newcomer in terms of bicycle brands. It was founded in 2015 and is relatively unique in that it is a Scandinavian brand. The cycling industry tends to focus on a few hubs – the US, Taiwan, Italy, Germany – so it’s certainly new to see a brand come from Norway, and not even Oslo. Fara is located in the ‘mid-north’, in a city about 30 km from Trondheim, about the same latitude as Iceland, where the national landmass is starting to become thin.

Given the brand’s somewhat remote origins, it’s no surprise that it started with gravel bikes, before moving on to all-road until we got the F/Road, a full-on road bike. In the same way that Italian bicycles have some Italian characteristics in their design and aesthetics, and even in the ride quality, there is some of that, even if the flavor is Norge.
