Finally, Ayush Badoni’s unbeaten fifty took LSG to 165/4 against SRH on a slow pitch. For Lucknow Super Giants, Badoni (55 not out) and Pooran (48 not out) pushed them forward after opting to bat first.

Pooran and Badoni added 99 runs for the fifth wicket for SRH. The Pooran-Badoni pair helped the visitors post a total, which didn’t look possible at the 13th over mark.

After opting to bat first, Lucknow had a far from ideal Powerplay in which they lost Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis. As a result, they could only manage 27 runs at that stage, Lucknow’s lowest Powerplay score of the season.

KL Rahul perished in his quest to break free, while Krunal Pandya, sent on at number 4, looked good but gave away his wicket while attempting a tight single.

Ayush Badoni came out with the intentions in his mind and while the other experienced batters struggled, he seemed to be batting on a different surface. Along with Nicholas Pooran, he breathed life into Lucknow’s innings through their unbeaten 99-run stand.

Pooran missed his fifty by two runs but Badoni reached his half-century off 28 balls, the fastest of his IPL career.
