The Lady Cruiser tennis team triumphs in back-to-back matches

The Eatonville Cruiser tennis team earned wins in both matches against Montesano and Castle Rock, each by a score of 3-2.

In their match against Montesano, the team suffered an initial setback, with the top two singles matches being dropped. However, Kate Marsh rallied for the team and secured a crucial victory in the number three singles with a score of 7-6, 6-3. The Cruisers then dominated the doubles matches and emerged victorious. Alayna Meyer and Isabel Volk fought through a long three-set first doubles match and triumphed 1-6, 6-3, 7-6. Meanwhile, Megan Blake and Jessie Zumwalt also triumphed in three sets, sealing the victory with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 7-6, with both doubles teams claiming victory in tiebreaks.

Against Castle Rock, Bailey Andersen showed formidable skill, securing a first singles victory by a score of 6-2, 6-3. Once again the Cruisers dominated the doubles matches. Alayna Meyer and Isabel Volk once again faced a tough three-set match in the first doubles match and emerged victorious with a score of 6-7, 6-1, 6-3. Meanwhile, Megan Blake and Jennavieve Smith earned a solid victory in the number two doubles match with a score of 6-3, 6-0. Despite valiant efforts, Amelia Ferreira and Kate Marsh suffered losses at number two and three singles respectively.

Before the Castle Rock game, the team paid tribute to their two seniors, Ella Gendreau and Tam Thompson.

With these wins, the Cruisers now boast an impressive 11-2 record, currently tied with White Salmon for second place in the 1A Evergreen League standings. The team prepares to close out the regular season with a visit to Stevenson on Wednesday to take on the Bulldogs, followed by hosting White Salmon on Friday.
