No. No. 11 USC Women’s Tennis falls to No. 5 Pepperdine in NCAA Super Regional

MALIBU – USC’s dual meet season came to an end on Friday, May 10, when the No. 11 seed Trojans fell to No. 6 seed Pepperdine during the NCAA Round of 16 at the Ralphs-Strauss Tennis Center. The loss marks the Trojans 15e straight to the waves.

With the loss, USC officially ends the 2023-24 season at 20-9 overall, the Trojans’ third 20-win season under head coach Alison Swan.

USC scored a huge win on center court to start the doubles match, as Eryn Cayetano And Lily Fairclough defeated the number 2 duo of Savannah Broadus and Janice Tjen 6-3. The Waves battled Black to claim court two 6-4 over USC’s No. 60 ranked Grace Piper And Parker Fry. With all eyes on court three, Trojans Emma Charney And Snow Han would come up short in a tiebreak, falling 7-6 (8-6) to Anna Campana and Lisa Zaar.

Heading into singles play, USC struggled to gain momentum, losing the first sets on all six courts. Pepperdine’s second point of the day came on lane six when Vivian took down Yang McKenna Koenig 6-2, 6-0. Next was number 99 on the rankings Snow Han fell to No. 15 Lisa Zaar 6-1, 6-3 on center court. Pepperdine’s clinch came on lane four as #97 Eryn Cayetano lost to No. 12 ranked Savannah Broadus 6-0, 7-5.

USC now turns their attention to the upcoming NCAA Singles Championship in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where Trojans Emma Charney And Grace Piper were selected to compete individually. Moreover, the Trojans are Charney and Eryn Cayetano earned berth in the NCAA Doubles Championship.
