Season ends in Supers – Stanford University Athletics

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The season for No. 19 Stanford men’s tennis came to an end in the NCAA Super Regionals, when the team fell to No. 6 Wake Forest 4-1.

Wake Forest claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. The tandem of Samir Banerjee And Nishesh Basavareddy opened the doubles match with a 6-1 victory on court two, but the Demon Deacons outlasted the Cardinal and took advantage of the early advantage.

A closely contested singles bout, Basavareddy continued his winning streak with a top-25 win on court one, 7-5, 6-3, but the Demon Deacons picked up wins on courts five and two to take a 3-1 lead. Wake Forest had to go to three sets on the three remaining courts and picked up a win on court four to end the evening.

The Cardinal finish the year with an overall mark of 19-7, reaching the round of 16 for the third straight season on the road. Basavareddy and Banerjee will compete in the NCAA singles championship in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
