Team Penske takes action to cover crew suspensions ahead of the Indy GP

In the wake of Roger Penske’s suspensions of four Team Penske employees, Josef Newgarden will not have his usual race engineer Luke Mason or race strategist on his timing stand this weekend at the Indianapolis Grand Prix or to celebrate their victory in the Indianapolis 500 to defend. Mason’s place for the Indy GP will be taken by Raul Prados, a veteran Penske race engineer with extensive IndyCar and IMSA experience, who joined the team in 2017 from AJ Foyt Racing. Jon “Myron” Bouslog, one of Penske’s longest-serving employees whose career has included nearly every role on the team in IndyCar and more recently at IMSA, will replace Cindric.

Power’s race engineer David Faustino will do double duty as race strategist and Paulo Trentini Filho, a data engineer who joined the team in 2018, will fulfill Atkinson’s duties. The agreements are only for the Indy GP; Team Penske will announce the Indy 500 lineup for the Nos. 2 and 12 in the coming days.

Also of note, a Team Penske representative confirmed the following to RACER regarding the nature of the suspensions for Cindric, Ruzewski, Mason and Atkinson: Penske will not allow the four to be at or near the Speedway to be housed in a ‘war room’. ‘to help with business.
