Small change in the new WyoPreps Softball rankings

Small change in the new WyoPreps Softball rankings

The new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Softball Poll has one small change at the bottom compared to last week. In the penultimate poll of the season, Campbell County retained first place, while Wheatland moved back into the rankings.

The Camels received all but one of the 16 first-place votes. They were 48 points ahead of the next team in the poll. The Camels won three conference games on the road by double digits this past week. They face another test Friday against crosstown rival and still second-ranked Thunder Basin. The Bolts got the other first place.

Cheyenne East once again held on to third place. The Thunderbirds have clinched a spot in the state tournament, but could still earn the No. 2 seed in the East Conference with a win in their final regular-season game and some help. The Cody Fillies wrapped up the West Conference crown with a win over Worland on Tuesday. They remained fourth in the new poll.

Wheatland jumped back up the rankings at No. 5. The Bulldogs are clinging to the fourth and final spot in the East Conference, but that is still up for grabs depending on the outcome of several games at the end of the regular season.

Only two teams received votes in the poll.
