Team news

Punjab kings

PBKS come into this match on the back of a huge defeat against Chennai. Bairstow could not score more than seven points in the last game. Prabhsimran looked good but lost his wicket after a wrong judgement. Jitesh Sharma, Ashutosh Sharma and Sam Curran added just 10 runs in total which is disappointing. Shashank Singh played some great shots but didn’t get the support he needed.

Rilee Rossouw was out for a duck as the entire batting unit simply flopped against Chennai in Dharamshala. Shikhar Dhawan did not travel with the team to Dharamsala, so the same players are expected to play against RCB. Harshal Patel and Rahul Chahar took three wickets each in the final match, while Arshdeep scalped two.

Arshdeep Singh did concede 42 runs, which is not a good thing. Rabada has been decent this season. He wasn’t the best bowler for the Kings, but the others have gone a step further here and there. Harpreet Brar bowled just one over in the previous match and went for 19 runs, so he will look to improve against RCB and not to forget, he always comes up against Bangalore.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB have recorded just four wins after 11 matches, but three of those came in the previous three matches. Virat Kohli is in excellent form and is making sure his side gets off to a good start in almost every match. Faf is not having an excellent season, but he looked brilliant in the previous match. The duo is expected to start again for RCB in the match against PBKS.

Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell have the responsibility of handling the middle-order batting, which they have not done so far this season. Patidar has played three or four good innings here and there, but not Maxwell. Will Jacks comes in to bat at number 3 and he needs to bring some consistency to his at bats. Dinesh Karthik has played many brilliant innings for RCB this season and has taken the responsibility of scoring runs consistently down the order.

RCB only have three games in hand and their play-off hopes are still there. The problems in bowling have been solved a lot recently. Mohammed Siraj, who struggled to bowl a single over, has been bowling with a lot of confidence in the last few matches.

Bangalore don’t have a good spin bowler in their team to handle the middle overs. They let go of Chahal and have not been able to replace him with anyone else. Yash Dayal has played some sensational spells this season and he is currently the main bowler for the Royals. Cameron Green is also bowling some important overs and his bowling has been very good so far.

Vyshak took two wickets in the last match with good economy, so his selection is a must against PBKS in Dharamshala. RCB would look to extend their winning streak and double PBKS on Thursday.
