‘Virat Kohli has been a terrible influence’: Faf du Plessis reveals how RCB teammate’s passion left an impact

The IPL has not only provided a platform for cricketers from all over the world to play as teammates but has also helped forge deep friendships. It seems batting superstar Virat Kohli has developed a close bond with his Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis, so much so that the Indian is now also influencing the South African’s fashion choices.

Ahead of RCB’s final IPL 2024 clash where they face Punjab Kings, Du Plessis has shed some light on his relationship with teammate Kohli.

“We both love food,” Du Plessis continued Star sports. “We are both very into our fashion. That’s something else we spend a lot of time on. The way we dress, what style of clothing. We sent each other pictures of outfits and stuff like that.”

However, there is another ‘terrible influence’ that the former South African skipper also blames on Kohli.

“He has been a terrible influence on me when it comes to watches, but he has a real passion for watches,” said the 39-year-old.

Besides the usual clothing choices, the two also have young families and since they all belong to the same age group, it helps them connect well with each other.

‘He has a daughter, I have two daughters. He now also has his second child. Our wives and children, who were the same age, really bonded in that regard,” Du Plessis said.

Du Plessis and Kohli open for RCB and have led their batting throughout the competition.

With 542 runs, Kohli is the leading run-getter of the season, while Du Plessis has 352 runs – the second most for RCB so far.

The duo produced a scintillating show against Gujarat Titans with a thrilling partnership of 92 runs in just 5.5 overs, which culminated in a four-wicket win.
