Vote for the El Paso Times’ Jarritos High School Athlete of the Week

The El Paso Times will honor high school students weekly this year based on your participation, which you, the readers, determine. We accept nominations weekly and announce a list of finalists for the Jarritos High School Athlete of the Week every Tuesday.

Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated. The polls close on Thursday at 2 p.m. and the winners will be announced on Friday each week.

Nominations are due by 5:00 PM on Monday and can be submitted via email at [email protected] or by contacting Felix Chavez via social media at X (formerly Twitter).

These are this week’s nominees:

  • Adelynn Rodriguez, Eastwood athletics. Rodriguez earned a bronze medal in the 3,200 meters at the Class 6A state track and field meet.
  • Danny Torres, Eastwood athletics. Torres placed fourth in the 3,200 meters at the Class 6A state track and field meet.
  • Daniela Ocaranza, El Paso High Tennis. Ocaranza won the District 1-5A girls singles title.
  • Max Martin, El Paso High Tennis. Martin won the District 1-5A boys singles title.
  • Mackenzie Baptist, Coronado Tennis. She won the District 1-6A boys singles title.
  • Ian Uraga, Coronado Tennis. He won the District 1-6A boys singles title.
  • Ruben Hern├índez, American baseball. He allowed one run in seven innings in a 2-1 win against Odessa Permian in the bi-district round of the Class 6A playoffs.
  • Joe Aranda, Clint Baseball. He struck out 10 and allowed one hit in the win against Austin in the bi-district round of the Class 4A playoffs.
