Italian Open: Paula Badosa is forced to master off-court skills thanks to the varying demands of BFFs Aryna Sabalenka and Ons Jabeur

Tennis friendships reach new heights as Aryna Sabalenka, Paula Badosa and Ons Jabeur form a dynamic trio, both on and off the court. Despite their relationship, the trio’s different personalities and preferences often show sharp contrasts. In a new video clip, Paula Badosa has clearly mentioned how Sabalenka is looking for “a good shopping place” while Jabeur wants that “a good restaurant” highlighting the complex dynamics that characterize their friendship.

Now that the Madrid Open is over, the WTA recently shared a video showing light-hearted moments from the tournament. In that video, the 26-year-old Spanish tennis player said that everyone has different questions for her, even her own friends, after she reaches Madrid. She stated: “Everyone now asks me about restaurants or where can I go. Because here in Madrid we have great places, but we don’t even like food.”

Furthermore, she also emphasized the fact that both her friends have completely different demands from her. She said, “If it’s Us asking me, maybe she wants a good restaurant.” On the other hand, her preferences when it comes to the Australian Open champion are different from those of the former Wimbledon finalist.

“If it’s Aryna asking me, maybe she wants a good place to shop. So it depends, I have to adapt,” she added. In addition, she also joked about the fact that Spain is her own country, she is the one who had to adapt to the different demands and master different off-court fields for her friends. Despite an early exit for Paula Badosa and Ons Jabeur in Madrid, both players wasted no time in shifting their focus to the next tournament in Rome.

During a practice session ahead of the Italian Open, Ons Jabeur announced her new friendship with Paula Badosa. While the current world number two took part in the Madrid final, Jabeur jokingly introduced himself as Badosa’s “best friend on tour,” strengthening their developing friendship on the tennis circuit.

She stated: “But yes, it’s always nice to be next to her. She helps me so much, even mentally, she is always so positive. Sometimes I might struggle a bit and when I play against her I learn a lot from her too. She is so talented, so it’s fun to share moments with her.” Badosa has won her first match since upsetting Simona Halep at the Miami Open, overcoming a remarkable six-match loss to top-40 tennis players.
