No major changes are expected in the batting order

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chairman Nazmul Hasan Papon stated that there are limited options to make changes in the batting order during the T20 World Cup.

The chairman reckoned that the team would field three pacers and one spinner, and if the team management had seven batters, they would include four bowlers in the XI.

“I don’t see any possibility of changing the batting order. I don’t know how it will happen. Two batsmen open among the top three. But I can’t say who they are. The three pacers will bowl. The chance of an interim change seems very small. As a cricket supporter, I hope Bangladesh wins all the matches and as BCB president, I hope they perform well,” Papon said.

“There will be one spinner. I don’t know if it will be Rishad or Mehedi. We will see and decide. The rest have three pacers. I feel like no major changes are expected in between,” he said.

However, national team head coach Chandika Hathurusingha stated that they would experiment by changing the batting order during the tournament: “Yes, the batting order will change in T20 cricket. It’s common in cricket,’

During the 2023 ODI World Cup, there were a number of changes in the playing XI, making it difficult for the batters to adapt to the changes. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto also acknowledged the effect of instability in the batting order after the tournament.
