New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings will look to cover absentees as they push for a play-off spot with a win over Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024 on Friday.

CSK are fourth with 12 points from 11 matches, but are only ahead of Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants in terms of net run rate. A win would take them level on points with third-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad on 14 points.

Since they are not yet assured of a place in the last four, a win for Gujarat would reduce their chances. Gujarat are at the bottom with just eight points from eleven matches.

In their quest for a crucial win, CSK would have to make do without injured pacers Deepak Chahar and Matheesha Pathirana and international officiant Mustafizur Rahman.
With only Ravindra Jadeja and Tushar Deshpande being the only first-choice bowlers available for the game, CSK’s bowling unit will be under pressure to deliver results.

CSK would look to their three spinners in the bowl of Jadeja, Mitchell Santner and Moeen Ali to excel on what is expected to be a slow pitch.

They would be feeling confident after defending a total of 167 runs in Dharamsala against Punjab Kings as Gujarat is virtually out of the race and low on confidence.

Without their injured star pacer Mohammed Shami, their bowling unit has lacked firepower and new skipper Shubman Gill has failed to provide the bat, leading to just one win in their last five matches.
