Netflix may have put it lightly when it said seven-time world champion and modern-day legend Tom Brady would tackle “the biggest challenge of his career.”

Those with sturdy shoulders and iron stomachs watched as Tom Brady held his cleats to the fire by Roastmaster General Jeff Ross, along with famous friends and foes on an unforgettable evening as they tried to “take down the GOAT.”

Airing last Sunday on Netflix, “The Roast of Tom Brady” was more like a little corner of hell.

The New York Post rated the show as “filthy and vulgar…inappropriate and shocking…uncomfortable…” – all of which the publication claims makes for a highly entertaining and ‘enlightening’ watch.

Tom was not spared and took most of it on the chin, but his ex, Gisele Bündchen, came away “deeply disappointed” and upset. Not so much because the guy chose football over herbut for the “disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday night’s Roast Show,” according to a PEOPLE source.

The smitten ex added that her priority is to “support her children who have been affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcast.”

The insider added: “Over the past week, Gisele has worked tirelessly to help those in need in her home state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, which is experiencing the worst flooding in its history. She was concerned about the family affected by the devastating floods, so it was very disappointing to hear her life being made fun of.”

Host Kevin Hart – along with other big-name comedians like Nikki Glaser and Tony Hinchcliffe, as well as Brady’s former teammates Julian Edelman, Gronk and Drew Bledsoe – went all out to crush egos on the show, without even bothering with niceties or foreplay.

Glaser takes a dig at the Super Bowl champion with a joke about his breakup with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynihan, the mother of his eldest son.

“Tom, you’re the best to ever play too long. You retired, then came back, then retired,” Glaser said. “I understand. It’s hard to walk away from something that isn’t your pregnant girlfriend.”

What followed was more than three hours of sustained fire at close range, targeting the GOAT and everyone in its universe. There was NOTHING on the menu for this roast, that’s for sure:

There were white jokes, black jokes, gay jokes, Jewish jokes. Stings about CTE, eating disorders, and Brady’s former Patriots teammate Aaron Hernandez killing people (including himself). Everything and everyone was on the menu – including Brady’s failed marriage to Gisele Bündchen, his hair transplant rumors, friend Rob Gronkowski’s IQ and ex-coach Bill Belichick’s unemployment.

And then think of the jokes that didn’t even make the cut:

Tellingly, Brady only threw one mercy flag:

When “Roastmaster General” Jeff Ross harassed Patriots owner Robert Kraft for getting busted at a massage parlor on charges of soliciting prostitution, the former quarterback told him, “Don’t say that again.”

Per Page Six: “Brady’s defense of Kraft while standing on the sidelines, ripping through comic after comic about his marriage felt to his ex-wife like proof that he still cares more about the world of football than his personal life.”

The NY Post states that the roast was cathartic because it “felt like shaking off decades of political correctness.

Jerry Seinfeld recently noted that left-wing name-calling out of fear of offending people has ruined television and movies, which is true.

We used to laugh at and with each other. We were better friends because of it.

The No-holds-barred publication goes on to argue that awards shows have become so benign and boring that even an innocent comment about Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia made Will Smith think he was justified in punching Oscar host Chris Rock in 2022.

On the other side of the coin, The Washington Post takes a contrasting stance, calling out Tom for being desperate for money, or attention, or “proof that he’s a brother.”

“He needed it bad enough to make that Netflix roast in which he bravely sacrificed the mothers of his children to clumsy third-rate comics, whose hammy punchlines fell like refrigerators to the sidewalks, wiping out Brady’s reputation for intelligence among them. ”

…”Only sycophants blinded by Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings could have found the performance comical.”

Too bad that Gisele, who has been linked to a jiu-jitsu trainer since her divorce, literally became the butt of the night.

Glaser made a memorable reference to Valente, the aforementioned ju-jitsu trainer, saying, “How bad would it be for Tom…just knowing that your ex-wife’s new boyfriend could beat you while you eats hers.”

Hart also went for this innocent guy and joked that Tom cheated on your coach. But let me tell you something… that’s what you do to maintain your happiness. You understand, sometimes you have to f– your coach. You know who else cheated on that coach? Gisele. She screwed that karate guy.”

Another moment, Brady sat completely still as Hart made more misogynistic jokes about Bündchen.

“Why didn’t you see this coming? Eight karate lessons a day. … The only bruises she had were on her a–. Everyone should have known.”

As The Washington Post continues to note:

There should have been plenty of ways to properly roast Brady: for his dimpled Shirley Temple appearance at press conferences, but his helmet-throwing rage on the sidelines, for his epic loss in a cryptocurrency bust, for the rumors that he was plastic had undergone surgery, his friendship with Donald Trump.

Instead, the audience was presented with an endless litany of jokes about sex organs. Really funny.
